The concept isn't new nor groundbreaking. This, the artist admits, is what inspired her to do it. While others tend to imagine what they'd look like in a much more human way, she instead chose to give them personalities and tried to focus on, not only the good, but the bad.

The character's struggles, hope, ideas, inspiration and place within their reality all shine through and allow the artist to add both a sense of perspective and reality to the characters that we've all come to love. The reality though, is that we've come to love a shiny happy version. It was never intimate, despite the fanaticism the film's evoke in fans. These portraits give us insight and depth.

Now, we don't need to try to imagine. It's here. In a sort of Pre-Raphaelites style Theurer embraces the bountiful scope for an adult's imagination to carry on the stories where Disney left them off, or where they wouldn't dare to go.
